Have you ever been sitting outside around the swimming pool and wondered whether it was time to upgrade outdoor electrical outlets or to add more outlets to the outdoor living space? Too often, the swimming pool builders from Advanced Pools, Inc. say people don’t stop to think about how many outlets they’d like poolside until they try to plug something in and realize there are no outlets available.

Are you planning a pool construction project this summer? Are you buying a home that has a swimming pool? Are you considering upgrading or updating the swimming pool and the outdoor living space? If so, don’t forget to consider the addition of electrical outlets for the newly updated area. You certainly don’t want to run extension cords or cut back on the outdoor fun simply because you ran out of outlets, right?

Upgrade outdoor electrical outlets

Work with a qualified and experienced electrician to upgrade the outlets and to determine the ideal placement for outlets. If we’ve raised questions in your mind right now you may be wondering, “what exactly would we need additional electric for?” Here are some reasons:

  1. Weather-resistant heater or a cool mist system. If you use your pool in the cool days of autumn or at night when it’s just not as warm, a heater will come in handy. Relaxing poolside on blistering hot days will be more comfortable if you add a cool mist system.
  2. Lighting not only adds to the aesthetics of your pool, but enhances the safety if you’re poolside at night. You can certainly use solar powered lighting, but they may not provide the intensity of light you need to be safer poolside when the sun has gone down.
  3. Making poolside repairs? It’s easier to use power tools and that will be easier if you have the outlets to support them.
  4. Plug in a refrigerator, heated towel rack, entertainment system, television, stereo or other outside amenities.
  5. Have you always wanted an outdoor kitchen? If so, decide how many outlets you want there and add them into the construction project.

Take some time and write down exactly what you’d like to have happen in your outdoor living space then think about how many outlets that might encompass. Work with your pool contractor or your electrician to realize the dream of an update or upgrade to your poolside living space.
