What does a swimming pool cost? Advanced Pool Care swimming pool contractors explain

When you’re looking for a quote for your swimming pool, your biggest question is likely, “what does a swimming pool cost?” Along with that question you need to be aware of what is and what is not included in a swimming pool construction quote. Knowing what you want to have in your swimming pool, along with knowing your budget will help you narrow down the type of pool project you will be able to afford. Ask the pool contractors from Advanced Pool Care, Inc. what items are necessary for every pool project and what items are nice-to-haves. Something you may not have considered, for example, is the need for a pool safety fence. A fence is required by most municipalities and this means you need to factor the price of that into your pool project.

There are additional construction costs you need to understand that are not part of the entire project estimate. Some of those items might include (we already mentioned a fence)  diving boards, pool toys, a deck, outdoor living space, landscaping, etc. There are some items that have significant price tags associated with them that you need to know budget for.

What does a swimming pool cost?

Here are costs you may not have considered:  swimming pool construction

  • The pool fence. Typically required by law. Ask your pool contractor to factor that into your estimate. Additional safety measures could include: safety covers, locking gates, floating pool alarms, life jackets, pool lifesavers and others.
  • Outdoor living space and landscaping. Dropping a swimming pool into your backyard isn’t the end of the project. Decisions on grading around the pool, yard drainage and your pool deck will need to be made.
  • Pool add ons including diving board, slide, rock waterfall, fountain, sunshelves… etc. These items will need to be requested and added to the estimate.
  • Pool maintenance. Don’t forget to budget for ongoing pool maintenance and keep. Whether you hire a pool service professional or undertake the pool cleaning yourself, you still need to budget for the costs.
A pool contractor will give you an estimate for the pool construction as well as the equipment necessary to run the pool — pumps, filters, heaters, etc. Ask for an explanation of the differences in types of equipment and models as it will impact the cost. Before taking the plunge into swimming pool ownership understand the potential expenses associated with your pool so you have a complete understanding and a quote that is right on track.
