Owning a swimming pool means you are a mere phone call away from hosting a pool party! There is nothing better on a hot summer day or humid summer evening than to invite a bunch of people over to simply lounge around the pool, cook out at your outdoor kitchen and simply relax.
The swimming pool contractors from Advanced Pool Care offer these tips for making your pool party one to remember:
- Keep all trash cans away from the pool so they don’t get knocked over and fall into the water. Set up trash cans off to the edges of the deck so no flies, bees or ants become unwelcome visitors at your party.
- We don’t recommend serving alcoholic drinks at your party, especially if people will want to go swimming. Drinking and swimming simply don’t mix. Serve a variety of fruited punch drinks or “virgin” versions of your guests’ favorites. If someone does get drunk, don’t let them go swimming until they’re sober. Just as you wouldn’t let a guest drive drunk, you shouldn’t let them swim drunk, either.Keep track of any spilled drinks or food left sitting around poolside in order to keep the bees and ants from crashing the party.
- Prepare your food properly and don’t let the food sit out in the hot sun or be unrefrigerated. Cold food should be kept cold, kept on ice or refrigerated until you’re ready to serve it. Cook all burgers and other foods until they are at the proper temperatures and not rare.
- Make certain there are pool toys, rafts and games available to keep the children occupied.
- Have ample amounts of towels, sunscreen and moisturizer on hand. Also, it might make sense to pick up some flip flops in various sizes for your guests to use when they are done swimming but are not ready to put shoes back on.
- Always make certain your pool is clean and swim-ready. Make sure all pool chemicals are properly stored and locked away so that no curious children get into them during the party. If you’re planning a pool party it might make sense to talk with your Memphis, Tennessee swimming pool contractor about an additional visit for cleaning the pool both before and after the party.
- You don’t want to have glass around the swimming pool to remove the risk of something breaking and someone stepping in glass and cutting themselves. Also, if you got broken glass in the swimming pool, it’s virtually impossible to find, could tear your liner, ruin the filter and jam your vacuum.
- To prevent anyone from falling accidentally into the swimming pool, make certain chairs and tables are a safe distance away.
Make a few phone calls or send invitations and invite friends and family over for the first pool party of the season!
