Plan a Memphis, Tennessee swimming pool party
Independence Day is just around the corner and if you’re planning a July 4th party for friends, family and work colleagues, there is still time to decide to do just that! If you own a swimming pool, you already have the main “ingredient” for a successful pool party.
If you’re planning your Fourth of July party around your swimming pool, the swimming pool contractors from Advanced Pool Care offer these tips to help you maximize fun and safety during your event:
- Don’t forget the sunscreen. If there will be a lot of in-pool activities going on, have sunscreen on hand for your guests. Make it waterproof and you won’t have to reapply as often. Spending time in the sun is great for fun and for your health, but getting a sunburn isn’t!
- Have water readily available. Sure you may have juice or soda for the kids and even some adult beverages on hand, but a hot, sunny day means you can easily get dehydrated and water is the best “cure” for that. Urge your guests to drink water and drink it frequently. If your party plans involve alcohol, drinking water will help reduce the effects of a hangover.
- Wear sunglasses and a hat. Go to a discount store and pick up additional hats so your guests can use them if they forgot their own. Wearing a floppy, brimmed hat will help prevent heat stroke and sunburn. Protective eyewear is also wise anytime you’re outdoors.
- Eat mindfully. Sure, it’s tempting to eat all of the delicious party foods that your hosts will have available, but if you do you may regret it later. Take small amounts of treats so you can indulge without overdoing it.
- Allergic reactions are common summertime fare; from ragweed to treatment for mosquito bites and bee stings, keep a first aid kit handy.
- Make certain you have pool rules in effect — no running on the deck, no riding toys on the deck and no roughhousing on the deck.
- Appoint an adult to keep track of all of those who are in the pool.
- Never let children swim unattended, keep your pool fence locked if no one is there to supervise, and practice restraint when mixing alcohol with swimming activities.
- Keep your dogs out of the water when you’re throwing a party. It could be too much excitement for them and they may scratch people in the pool. Fill a kiddy pool and keep it deckside so they can enjoy the party and have their own space to swim.
Have a happy, healthy and fun 4th of July!
