Pumpkin spice season is upon us! Whether you’re a fan of pumpkin spice or a fan of the cooler weather and colorful leaves, having a pool party in the autumn is wonderful! Are you planning a poolside Halloween party? If so, there is no better time to get your guests to “save the date” and to decide whether you will have your party on Halloween — which is on a Saturday this year or if you want to have it the weekend before, you will want to start planning today!

If your pool is still open give your pool contractor from Advanced Pool Care in Memphis, Tennessee to clean the pool before hand then schedule a pool cleaning for right after the party. Having a heated swimming pool means you can still offer your guests the opportunity to take a dip in the pool!

Even if the pool has been closed, you can still have a poolside Halloween party. The weather may mean you will need to have a firepit in the yard, have heated space for the guests, heated blankets or have additional scarves and mittens on hand. A hot tub will definitely be able to be used and if you have the hot tub open, plan to toss the towels in the heater and offer guests heated towels when they get out of the water.

Here are a few things to consider for your Halloween party.

  1. Will you have a costume contest? If so, let the guests know. Let them know whether it’s a theme or a dress-as-your-favorite costume!
  2. What will be on the menu? If a guests asks if he or she can bring something, let them know what’s on the menu and accept their offer of help.
  3. Dig out the decorations and use LED candles to light up the tables, walkways and other areas of the yard.
  4. Buy some pumpkins and offer a pumpkin carving station for those who want to participate.
  5. You can have a craft corner and let guests try their hand at arranging fall foilage in hallowed out pumpkins or gourds and they can take it home with them.
  6. Offer pumpkin flavored treats — pumpkin spice coffee, muffins, cupcakes, cookies, mulled cider with cinnamon sticks. Now is the time to indulge your love of everything pumpkin flavored.
  7. Will you grill or offer up casseroles? The weather and your guest list might be the deciding factor in this.
  8. If you have the party on Halloween — will it be an adult party, a family party? If it’s a family party, will the children want to go trick or treating at some point during the party or will you set up a haunted house or treat station so there is no need to leave the party?
  9. Go on Pinterest and look for decorating ideas. Get out and get shopping soon because Halloween is big business and you want to get the decorations and items you want the most before they’re sold out.
