When should you start your pool project? Advanced Pools, Inc. contractors explain

Is spring the best time to start your swimming pool project? Should you start talking with a contractor now? At the end of next summer? When should you start your pool project? The swimming pool contractors from Advanced Pools, Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee say  now is the best time to talk with a pool contractor to get the project underway.

If you wait until spring you may have a hard time getting on the calendar for a summer construction project because your neighbors have taken up all of your contractor’s time for construction! Autumn, if it’s not too wet, is the ideal time for a pool construction project. The weather is better, summer swim season is over and starting in the autumn or early winter means the project will be done and your pool will be waiting as soon as summer starts.

Spring is, traditionally the rainy season in many areas of the country. This makes the ground too soggy for excavation and for getting heavy machinery into your yard. Also, wet dirt — mud — makes excavation and the mud will fall back into the hole. Spring could lead to delays because of inclement weather.

The best time of year for pool projects is autumn, pre-winter – the drier months – of the year. Have your pool project started and completed before winter, if possible, so your contractor doesn’t run into delays because of snow storms. Price is another consideration with an end of the swim season project. Look for “last year’s” pool models.  You may be able to negotiate a better price. If you live in desert regions you won’t have to worry too much about wet springs, but waiting until spring to get on the pool contractor’s calendar may mean you are waiting and losing valuable swim time because your contractor will likely already be booked with projects.

The sooner you start your pool construction planning the sooner you can sign your name on a contract! Having a pool constructed in the off season means that once summer rolls around again your pool will be ready and waiting for the family fun to begin!
